A Couple of Handrails in Sunland North

 

I got an opportunity to build a couple of hand rails for some folks in Sunland North.  I see a lot of places in that area that could use some handrail for the safety of the residents and want to offer a beautiful solution to that need. 

"Your Ideas In Metal" is our tag line.  We like to take what you have in your mind and turn it into something not only practical but beautiful.

Here are two of my latest handrails. 

This top one with the scrolls has an approximate cost of $350.00.  It incorporates 1" square tube for the frame with twisted pickets and is powder coated.

This next one is a little longer as I put a corner on it and wrapped it around to the pillar.  It too has a frame of 1" square tube with alternating straight and twisted pickets with the added flair of an Elk centerpiece.  Also powder coated this hand rail sells for about $605.00. 

I highly recommend powder coating hand rails.  It stands up to the weather far longer than standard paint and it gives the rails a beautiful smooth finish too.  Not to mention there are dozens of colors and textures to choose from.  My favorite place to get powder coating done is Dog House Powder Coating right here in Sequim.

A Part For Rainshadow Coffee Company

Everywhere I go I stop in and give people my business card and tell them to give me a call if I can ever do some welding or machining for them.  So, I stopped in at Rainshadow Coffee Co. , Sequim, WA  on Cedar Street and left them my card.  About a week later I got a call to make a part for one of their machines. 

It may not look like anything you've seen before but here it is.

Can you make a birdcage stand?

We were asked, "Can you make a bird cage stand?"  Our answer was, yes and what are your ideas?  Heidi came to us with a plant stand that her mother really liked and asked us to make some legs for a planter that would match so we did.  Then she came to us just recently and asked us to make a bird cage stand for her that would also match.  Here is a picture of the plant stand and the bird cage holder together.

Handrail Extroidinaire!

I get opportunity to do hand rails quite often and as always I try to make it what the customer wants.  I really enjoyed making this one and it looks really great on the customer's home too.

The Wife Gets In On Things

So, the wife was issued a challenge to make metal flowers for a friend for her daughter's wedding.  She made them from recycled aluminum cans and liked them so well she decided to make some to sell at the Open Aire Market.  Hitting the yard sales for containers she found one that was made in Italy from Stainless Steel and Brass and it made a perfect pot for a bouquet of her "Pop Can Art".

A Custom Designed Staircase Rail

An Indoor Gate

This project was for someone who has two small dogs and they didn't want them getting into a part of the house so they wanted an indoor gate.  This is what I came up with.  The hummingbird was a piece I picked up at a yard sale.  It used to be part of a candle holder with a stained glass look.  It made a great focal point on this gate.

Meet Ike

This guy is the logo on our business cards.  We found this picture a very long time ago and just decided it was cool and we've used it ever since.  This past year I decided to turn the picture into a 3D object and the result is "Ike" .  Ike now sits sentinal at our front door.  After having him powder coated he has a really cool look.

Another Unique project

Well, it seems I've gotten a reputation of sorts.  Another church is planning an Easter presentation and needed some shackles and spikes that might have been similar to those used when Christ was crucified.  This was a humbling project for me and while I was working on this it really made me think about this event and the meaning behind it.  Here are the items I made.

Never Know What I Might Be Asked To Make

I love a challenge.  When people come to me and ask, "can you make me..." the wheels in my head immediately start turning.  So when I was asked to make some "Roman Spears" for the "Town of Bethlehem" presentation at our church I took it on and here is the result.

This was a fun project to figure out.
